Lead Rule Compliance Advisor Help

Introduction

The Lead Rule Compliance Advisor (or the "Advisor") includes an applet, or a computer program embedded in a webpage. On some screens, this applet will appear in a rectangle-shaped window with a grey background. The applet will contain a sequence of screens with questions and prompts for your answers.

Loading the Applet

Depending on your connection, the Advisor may take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes to load.

Some browsers, such as Internet Explorer 7, will not automatically run the applet, but will first require you to "Allow Blocked Content" by clicking on a prompt or toolbar; please follow these prompts in order to run the applet.

You may then also be required to click on the applet once to run it (in this case, when you put your mouse over the applet you will see the message "Click to activate and use this control").

Continuing Between Applet Screens

Continuing to the next screen of the applet requires that you select one of the available answers and click the Next button. If you do not make a selection, clicking on Next will reload the screen and you will be required to select an answer before you can move on.

Completing the Advisor

Please note that you must answer all the questions asked by the Advisor in one sitting, or "session"—the Advisor does not store your answers, and if you are inactive for a long period of time you will be required to start again from the beginning.

Technology Requirements

  • Browsers: The Advisor is optimized for use with Internet Explorer 6 and 7, although it will also work with Mozilla Firefox and Opera.
  • Screen Resolution: The Advisor is designed to work with screen resolutions as low as 600 x 800, although your experience will improve with higher resolutions. Pressing F11 to make your browser full-screen will also improve your experience.
  • Computer: The Advisor is optimized for use on a PC with at least 128 MB of RAM.

Browser Options

  • Java: The Advisor requires that your browser have Java enabled. While it should be enabled by default, if you have problems loading the applet please click on (in Internet Explorer) Tools > Options > Advanced and scroll down to "Java (Sun)." Check "Use JRE [version number] for applet" and restart your browser. If necessary, you can download the latest version of Java for your operating system and browser.
  • Pop-Up Blockers: Please turn off pop-up blockers or, when prompted, allow pop-ups on this site.
  • Tabbed-browsing: If using tabbed browsing in Internet Explorer, set browser options to, "Always switch to new tabs when they are created."

Printing and Saving Pages and Documents

You can use the Print button on the left-hand menu of the Advisor to print some of the screens in the Advisor, including:

  • The Welcome page (the first screen in the Advisor)
  • Your Compliance Report (the last screen in the Advisor)

Please note that for other screens, the applet itself will not print (again, the applet is the rectangluar portion of the screen with a grey background and containing questions and prompts for your answers).

For pop-up pages, please use the Print This Page button the top right-hand side of the Advisor to print pages. For downloads, such as PDFs and Word documents, please use the Print button on the toolbar at the top of these documents.

You may also save pages and documents by using the keyboard shortcut CTRL-S (again, the applet itself cannot be saved).
